Student Health Service is holding a vaccination clinic for all students and high-risk faculty/staff.

High-risk includes those who are pregnant, or who have asthma, diabetes, immunodeficiency from any illness or medication, or obesity as they are at increased risk of severe illness from H1N1. If you have any of these conditions, you should receive a vaccine against H1N1 now.  Questions, contact Student Health Services at (607) 753-4811.

The vaccine is in short supply, so it is best to get there early. 

If you are under 18 please have your parent/guardian sign a consent form for you to have the vaccine. This can be found on the Student Health Service website at:

There is no charge for the H1N1 vaccine.

Please be advised that the Duplicating Center will have drop off and pick up counter service only November 11.  To pick up an exam, go to Corey Union, Room 406.  There will be no staff available to run same-day work orders.

Effective January 1, 2010, New York State Health Insurance Program (NYSHIP) rules will be modified to provide health insurance eligibility for unmarried young adults through Age 29 (the “Young Adult Option”) as required by Chapter 240 of the Laws of 2009.

The Young Adult Option does not change NYSHIP’s maximum age criteria for dependent coverage available to enrollees, but allows the young adult child of an enrollee to purchase individual health insurance coverage through NYSHIP, when the young adult does not otherwise qualify as a NYSHIP dependent. This change applies to health insurance only.  Dental and vision coverage are not available under the Young Adult Option.

COST:

The young adult or his/her parent must pay a separate premium for the Young Adult Option. There will be no employer contribution by the State toward the cost of the Young Adult Option; rather, the young adult or his/her parent are required to pay  the full cost of premium for individual coverage for the NYSHIP option selected for coverage.  (Please note – the young adult will NOT be added to a parent enrollee’s contract, the young adult will be enrolled in their own contract with NYSHIP.)

ENROLLMENT:

Enrollment for the Young Adult Option will be processed by the Employee Benefits Division (EBD).  The Employee Benefits Division will respond to the applicant with either an approval or denial of application.  If the application is approved, EBD will bill the young adult or his/her parent (as designated on the application) on a monthly basis.
