Hey All!
The big day is almost here and we need help!
There are two things NYPIRG needs volunteers for..
The first thing is PHONE BANKING. All this entails is that people come into the NYPIRG office (Corey Union, Right next to SGA) and use their phones or the office phone if its available and call people to let them know where they will be voting. Basically, Just a friendly reminder to go and vote.
There are set times for this: Today, Thursday (10/30) and Monday 4pm-7pm. We might schedule a few hours on sunday but that is Tbd.
Also, if we don’t get to enough people we will be phone banking on election day from 12–4. We will have a rough speech prepared so that everybody knows what to say.
The second the is ELECTION DAY HELPERS.
Ok this is the big one. We need people to be “poll educators”. Guiding people through the voting process, explain how the machines work (there are many first time voters!!) etc..
There will be a workshop Monday (before the election, obviously) 4-5 in the NYPIRG office. We will be explaining in more detail what you have to do, there will be food and tee-shirt designing! Bring a white tee and we will have fun. The meeting should be pretty short.
On election day we will need people at the two polling locations, Studio West and Water Works (behind Fizgerhald Hall I believe). We are asking for a minimum of 2 1/2 -3 hours. And 4 hours if anybody would be interesting in being a “Poll Leader”. This actually looks pretty good on a resume too, believe it or not.
The polls are open from 6AM- 9PM
Please email me at e.cronan@yahoo.com with your name, availability and what you would be interested in, as well as any questioins you might have as soon as possible. We really could use all the support we can get!! =]
have a good day and a great Halloween! Thank you for your help and dont forget to vote on

I don’t know if you guys can send out a mass e-mail for recruiting volunteers (and not a specific event)… but I was hoping you could
Here is it.
Thanks!
Alicia (this is from a project leaders e-mail but it is still sent on behalf of NYPIRG)
