Cortland Students Tell Albany, That’s Enough!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:02 pm

CSTATE: Cortland Students Tell Albany, That’s Enough!

The state government is after student’s money yet again. Governor Paterson proposed that another $90 million dollars get cut from the SUNY budget.

Come to the steps of Corey Union at 1 pm to help your fellow students rally against the state government going into our pockets for the state’s financial issues.

We NEED to have the students speak out against this unjustice so Albany can hear our voice and stop this immediately. This could mean students will NOT be graduating on time! Can you afford another year or two of college?

There will be a live webcast of the rally beginning at 1 pm, tune in to see and hear your fellow students speak out against the budget cuts. http://www.cortland.edu/webcast

Also catch “your local neighborhood band” The 37 Project playing a live set during the rally.

Tell your friends, spread the word, and come join your fellow students on the steps of Corey Union @ 1 pm to show your support for an important cause. SUNY Cortland – Webcasting – QuickTime Detection with PluginDetect

Dear Club Advisors and other campus organizations, We are writing to you in hopes to organize a joint holiday celebration event. This would be a fun experience to celebrate different holiday traditions. All clubs that participate will be asked to provide a food dish, plan a game, or fun tradition that represents their background and heritage and provide information to create a collaborative pocket guide that describes their holiday or traditions.

Throughout the event, attendees would be able to experience a variety of traditions shared by all groups. The pocket guides could include a passport section to be stamped as attendees visits each exhibit.

We would like to hold the event in the Function room on a weekday night preferably during the week of December 6th. Or, this could take place in the Interfaith center and organizations could cook their own food. Please let us know if your club or organization would be interested in taking part with us by October 21st. We will then have a planning meeting the following week.

This is a great way to bring a variety of campus organizations together to celebrate diversity and educate the Cortland community. We would love for you to all to become a part of what could become a growing tradition. Please respond to CortlandHillel@Gmail.com.

Thank you very much, Hillel

The lawyer will be on campus October 21, 2009. You must have an appointment to meet with the attorney and need to schedule it by noon on the day before he is scheduled to come. The attorney will be on campus between the hours of 4:00pm and 6:00pm. You can make your appointment in the SGA office (217 Corey Union or 753-4816) during regular business hours (9:00am-4:00pm). The attorney will only be on campus to provide advice, not court representation. Please contact the SGA office if you have further questions. The SGA Sponsored Attorney is funded by the Mandatory Activity Fee.
