Gymnastics Club Interest Meeting!

Attention all students,

The Gymnastics club will be holding an organizational meeting on Thursday, September 3 at 8:00pm by Poolside in Park Center. Please bring something to write with, as well as your health insurance cards or other proof of medical insurance with policy numbers, group numbers, etc. Proof of medical insurance is mandatory prior to participation with any sport club.

If you are interested, but cannot attend the meeting, please contact Cassandra McNamara at Cassandra.mcnamara@cortland.edu.

Cortland Finishes 2nd in Home Tournament!

The Cortland Gymnastics club hosted a successful tournament, March 28, their second annual event. All competitors had an outstanding meet, and there was a great turnout of fans. The team’s alumni had a chance to come back for the meet and compete in exhibition routines.

Cortland came in 2nd overall behind Cornell, who placed 1st in the tournament.

Senior Caroline Saporito finished 3rd place on the bars, tying with Beth Grinnell. Kristyn Cozier had an excellent meet finishing 3rd in the floor exercise, 2nd on the beam, 1st on the vault, and 2nd All-Around. Becky Schwartzman finished 1st on the beam.

Gymnastics Places Third At 2nd Annual Cortland Classic Invitational

The SUNY Cortland gymnastics club hosted their 2nd annual Cortland Classic Invitational meet this past Saturday. Cortland placed 3rd in the event, attended by Cornell, Penn State, and William Patterson University. Diana Gallagher placed 3rd in the floor competition (9.4). Jessica Schuddekopf captured 1st place on the beam with a score of 9.2 and finished 3rd in the overall competition for Cortland. Penn State (142.3) won the event, followed by Cornell (139.8). Two athletes from William Patterson compiled an overall score of 50.2.

Cortland - 134.9
WPU - 50.2

Gymnastics 3rd At Syracuse Invitational

The SUNY Cortland gymnastics club placed third at last weekend’s Syracuse University Invitational tournament. Individually, Emeline Himes came in second on bars (8.0) and Jess Schuddekopf added two 2nd place finishes (Floor - 9.5, All-around - 34.3) and a 3rd place finish on the vault (8.9). Cortland finished 5.4 points behind 1st place champion Syracuse (137.85) with a score of 132.45. The University of Buffalo and the University of Vermont rounded out the tournament field. Gymnastics Places 3rd At New York State Championships

The Cortland gymnastics club did battle with Cornell University and Ithaca College this past weekend at the New York State Championships hosted by Cornell. The club finished in 3rd place, but had some very strong individual performances in a meet that was closely contested. Cornell won the meet with a score of 136.3, Ithaca College finished 2nd with 131.55 points, and Cortland took 3rd finishing 8.2 points out of 1st place with a score of 128.1

Individually, Cortland’s Jessica Schuddekopf took first place on the beam (9.0) and finished in 4th place all-around (32.7). Diana Gallagher placed 2nd in the same event (8.6). Check back to the website soon for updated schedule information and results!
