The women’s lacrosse club won a game and lost a game this past weekend against Cornell and Ithaca, respectively. On Saturday, five goals by Kaela Dear wasn’t enough to overcome Ithaca, as Cortland fell by a score of 13-11. Kelly Fletcher and Anne Marie Vitchers added 2 goals apiece, and Carrie Mallison and Whitney Stevenson each scored once. Danielle Blanchard, Kaitlin Guiles, and Jill Quackenbush all spent some time in net for the Red Dragons.

On Sunday it was a different story as Cortland dominated Cornell from start to finish. Cortland built up a 7-0 lead in the first 14 minutes of the game and never looked back. The Red Dragons led 9-2 at the half, and that’s as close as the Big Red would get, using 5 goals from Whitney Stevenson, 3 goals apiece from Kelly Fletcher and Anne Marie Vitchers, and a goal each from Dana Zaccaro, Lauren Cavaretta, and Carrie Mallison to seal the 14-3 victory. Danielle Blanchard and Kaitlin Guiles combined for the stellar performance in net.

Cortland completes their Spring season this weekend when they travel to Washington, D.C. this weekend to compete in the annual Cherry Blossom tournament. Check back to this site next week for contest results!
