Ice Hockey Schedule Announced

The SUNY Cortland Club Hockey team has announced its tentative schedule for the 2007-2008 season. The team will be playing a 20 game Division 1 ACHA schedule, along with their inclusion in the Syracuse Invitational Tournament and a possible birth in the NECHL playoffs.  The club’s 22nd year will kick off against long time rival Cornell on October 19, 2007 at the Alumni Arena in Cortland, NY.

Ice hockey club moves up to ACHA Division 1

NECHL Premieres in 2007-2008
New Brunswick, NJ — For the 2007-2008 season, a new 8-team league has been formed at the ACHA Division 1 level. The new league, called the Northeast Collegiate Hockey League (NECHL) has enveloped the following schools:

  • Cornell University [Ithaca, NY]
  • Ithaca College [Ithaca, NY]
  • Penn State College-Berks [Reading, PA]
  • Rutgers University [New Brunswick, NJ]
  • Saint Bonaventure University [St. Bonaventure, NY]
  • SUNY-Binghamton [Binghamton, NY]
  • SUNY-Cortland [Cortland, NY]
  • SUNY-Oswego [Oswego,NY]
The league will have each team participating in 14 games with an annual playoff at the end of its season. Each team will play twice against each other and will have full partnership at the ACHA D-1 level.      

“We are excited to get this affiliation going and all members are thrilled in comprising this new league”, stated NECHL Commissioner Andy Gojdycz. “Our players finally have a great conference to be a part of and bringing together these institutions competitively will offer a great environment of strengthening collegiate hockey at our level”.
