Men’s Lacrosse Advances To NCLL Final Four!
April 29, 2008
Cortland, NY
After having to reschedule the game from Saturday night to last night, the Cortland men’s lacrosse club finally got to play Binghamton University in the NCLL quarterfinals. Cortland fell behind 2-0 early but rallied to make it 4-2 at the end of the 1st quarter. Late in the game, Cortland had an 8-4 lead before Binghamton mounted their comeback. The Bearcats cut the lead to 8-7 with 12 minutes left in the game, but Cortland added an insurance goal with under 4 to play and held on in the final few minutes for a 9-7 win. With the victory, Cortland advances to their 4th straight NCLL Final Four appearance. In 2005, the club lost in the semi-finals, in 2006 Cortland took home the national championship, and in 2007 the club lost in the finals to Columbia. Cortland has already taken their revenge on Columbia, defeating them 11-8 in the regional semi-final match.
The national semi-final games will be played at Lynchburg University in Virginia on Saturday afternoon with the league championship game scheduled for Sunday afternoon. Cortland will play host team Lynchburg in their next game. The winning team will play the winner of Cincinnati vs. TCNJ/Millersville.
Currently, Cortland’s record stands at 8-1. The Red Dragons look to improve to 10-1 to finish their season. Good luck to the Cortland men’s lacrosse club!
