Ice Hockey Opens Season With Win On The Road
October 17, 2008
Binghamton, NY
The pursuit of an NECHL title for the Cortland ice hockey club began last Friday night in Binghamton. Cortland’s Kyle Smith and Zach Haluszczak each recorded hat tricks for the Red Dragons and Pat Sullivan rounded off the scoring for the night as Cortland put up seven goals against the Bearcats on the road. Mike Cerasoli added three assists in the victory.
The game was the season opener for the Red Dragons, who look to return to the NECHL playoffs, hosted by Rutgers in February of 2009. Cortland earned the #4 seed in the division last season and advanced to the semifinals by way of a victory over Ithaca in the quarterfinals.
The Red Dragons will play their next two contests on the road before returning for their home opener on Saturday, 11/1 against Binghamton. Game time on 11/1 is set for 4:30pm at the Alumni Arena in Park Center. Admission to all games is free! Come down and support your Cortland ice hockey club!
