It has been an interesting day…one of those days when you have it all planned out and nothing you thought would get accomplished get done.
A request from the previous director, Jay, he wanted a garden planted in honor of his wife, Kris, who passed away last August. A great idea and wonderful request. A few of us planted it yesterday; however, I did not get the mulch added. I was able to get most of that done before the hectic day began.
It started with the maintenance guys from campus calling stating that they were arriving today to replace two bathrooms. Fantastic!! I just wish they would have let me know before so that I could have had the demo work done. It has been very confusing throughout the day. I went to Old Forge on a lumber run and returned to more issues. People were dropping in, needing various things. It was not the organized mess I am used to. We worked all day until around 6 p.m. I am anxious and nervous to see what will happen tomorrow. I am sure in the long run, everything will be fine.
Rob, Dan and I went to the Tap Room for dinner…Monday night Pastabilities!! We arrived to an ugh..Hi Rhonda…we don’t have any food left…”we got slammed tonight.” We decided that it was okay, we would just have a cocktail and go home to cook. As we finished our drinks, they decided that there was enough food to make three more meals. So we lucked out after all, although there was no dessert left.
A group of about five guys camp in while we were eating. If you have ever been to Pastas at the Tap Room, you know that there is enough food for two if not three meals. The guys were chatting and disappointed that there was not enough food. I was talking to Mitch about old maps of the area when Rob tapped me on the shoulder. “I bet you could sell the rest of your dinner.” I chuckled and went back to my conversation. I finished talking with Mitch and turned to the guy and made a deal with him…he ended up buying the second half of my meal. It is hard to pass up a good deal.
We came home and there is definitely a storm brewing tonight. The wind has picked up and the waves are crashing. As I started this blog, I heard a little plastic crumbling sound…hum, damn it’s a mouse! And it is eating the cookies that my Mom had made for me. I have two traps set…it won’t be long now.
More to come soon!
