Student Work

Liz Tucker (New Media Design) Liz Tucker is currently developing a series of prints that will eventually be combined to create a wallpaper.  This project focuses on influential figures in our society; she removes color from the images to keep the portraits from competing with each other.  Each print is accompanied with a quote stated by the figure displayed.

Artist Statement:

The ideas and responses to society from politicians, activists, and celebrities have touched us all. Every individual from every race/creed/religion experiences this life differently.  I am working on a collaboration of individuals contrasted in black and white with their recorded views.  I hope the piece will inspire a sense of humanity.

Eric Robinson (New Media Design)

Eric Robinson designed a multiple medium grid of a converse shoe.  Eric used nine different mediums to create the same object in multiple personalities of the same object.

Eric’s artist statement will be posted later.

  Ken Little (BFA, ceramic concentration)

Ken Little is developing a series of  molded, either press molded or slip-casted, ceramic work that focuses on the fetus and infant form.  The figures either support or are linked to each other physically, or are linked through identical features and are undergoing similar circumstances.

Ken’s artist statement will be posted later.

AEA Student Exhibition Space Available!

There is student exhibition space now available in the Dowd Gallery.  This presents an opportunity for student artists to exhibit their work, receive a reaction from their peers, and learn how to present their work in an exhibition.

Deadline to sign up for a time slot is Friday, October 3rd.  The final schedule will be posted Monday, October 6th in all classrooms and the art department office.

To sign up for a time slot, email Gina Smith, the AEA president, at gina.smith@cortland.edu.

AEA Art Critiques

This is the AEA art critique blog; when we have critiques, we’ll take images of the presented work and write brief comments about each work and each artist’s goals.

The next AEA critique is October 12th at 10AM by the Old Main studios.
