Have you ever walked across campus and counted the number of people on their cell phones, listening to their MP3 players, or playing on their PDAs? Have you noticed that the number of people who are “plugged in” tend to outnumber those who are not? This trend is alarming, especially when you consider most of these technological advances have been developed in the past 10 years. At that point in time pagers were the craze and doctors were the only ones carrying around fanny pack sized cell phones. Oh how times have changed.
