johan_santana12.jpg Johan Santana is one of the top Major League Baseball pitchers today. But Santana plays for the Minnesota Twins, a team that has had promise but always tends to disappoint. Apparently Santana got “fed up” this year and talked openly about how he wants to leave.

Santana’s mouth made all the top GM’s in baseball salivate. And of course the Yankees and Red Sox are now in a bidding war to acquire Santana. According to MLB sources, this deal may take months to complete. Even leaving Santana as a Twin during the start of the 2008 season.

Either way Santana is destined not to be a Minnesota Twin and will surely be traded away. Welcome to the Johan Santana Show. Take your seat and enjoy the madness!

MLB Trade Rumors: Johan Santana

p1_justint.jpgJustin Timberlake is known for bringing Sexy Back, but according to ESPN.com, JT will be hosting a LPGA Tour event in Las Vegas in 2008. The singer is supposedly a golf enthusiast and is excited about the chance to work with the LPGA. “I couldn’t be more excited,” said Timberlake, who plays to a 6-handicap, according to a Golf Digest ranking that was released earlier this year. “We will make sure to make this event unique and memorable.”

The Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, part of the tour’s Fall Series, will be played Oct. 13-19, 2008, at TPC-Summerlin. As part of his involvement, Timberlake will play in the Wednesday celebrity pro-am and host a concert during tournament week.

Hopefully Justin can bring the LPGA’s golf swing back, just as good as he brings Sexy Back!

p1_taylor.jpgMinnesota Vikings rookie RB Adrian Peterson has a torn ligament in his right knee. Peterson injured the knee in the first quarter of the Vikings contest v. the Green Bay Packers. The former Sooner’s injury will not require surgery and is not season ending. Peterson should only be out for this Sunday’s game v. the Oakland Raiders.

qhoylula.jpg Winning two World Series in a span of seven years is pretty impressive, but maybe the Florida Marlins did it with luck. It seems that at the end of every MLB season there is a story about the Florida Marlins dealing/losing their top players.

Word has it that this year Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis are on their way out of town. Supposedly for a heavy spending teams. According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, “The Dodgers, Giants and Angels are all expected to be major players for Cabrera … should also draw interest from the Red Sox and Yankees, among others. Both those teams, plus the three California clubs, have the type of young talent to make a blockbuster deal for Cabrera; however, the big question is which one of the five is willing to give it up.”

The question is who will spend the money necessary? Florida isn’t looking for any “new” players, but they are looking for money. Florida has one of the lowest payrolls in MLB and need to get the money to spend the money.

patandcolts.jpgThe New England Patriots beat the Indianapolis Colts in Indy for Superbowl 41 1/2. No speculation has started that the 2007 Pats will give the ‘72 Dolphins a run for their money in becoming the newest undefeated team. And no-one should question that this can’t happen. The Pats have one of the easiest schedules coming into the second half. The only real challenges they have are 12/9 v. Steelers (*5-2) and 12/29 @ Giants (6-2).

Road to 16-0?

The Patriots are 9-0 after Sunday’s win over the Colts. Here are the remaining opponents that stand between the Patriots and the NFL’s second perfect regular season.

Date Opponent Record
Nov. 18 at Bills 4-4
Dec. 3 at Ravens *4-3
Dec. 16 Jets 1-8
Dec. 29 at Giants 6-2

But does this prospect of becoming one of the best known teams in NFL history have the team excited? Hell No! and you can thank Coach Bill for that! Belichick’s somber/whatev attitude has effected the whole team. “We’re the ‘07 Patriots,” said linebacker Rosevelt Colvin, whose recovery of a Manning fumble with 2:25 remaining ended what would be the Colts’ final drive of the game. “That [the ‘72 Dolphins] has nothing to do with us.” (more…)

Kobe Bryant has made it clear that he wants out of LA, and the Chicago Bulls want him. However, there needs to be a third party involved. According to reports, the Sacramento Kings are interested and there was a deal in place.

Bulls get: Kobe Bryant

Kings get: Luol Deng and PJ Brown

Lakers get: Ron Artest and Ben Wallace

However, Bryant is the ONLY player in the NBA with a no trade clause, and he will likely use it for this trade. Why? Kobe will only go to Chicago, if and only if Loul Deng is a part of the team. Kobe feels that Loul and himself would be the modern day Jordan/Pippen combo in Chicago.

Kobe is the celebrity with the NBA, but time has shown that he can’t handle the solo spotlight. He is the reverse of a boyband star going solo. Kobe was clearly a better player during the LA Lakers recent dynasty. And why? Because Big Shaq was his supporting star.

The only way Kobe will be traded is if he has a supporting star. And for all of the NBA’s sake let’s hope it’s an Oscar worthy performance
