 So as I leave Jets training camp at Hofstra today I get a text from one of my friends that the Yankees got Pudge Rodriguez, OK whatev … we really didn’t need another catcher. And then my water-works started … the Yankees gave up my favorite player Kyle Farnsworth. And yes I cried the whole way home!

OK some of you may not get it, but Farnsy was MY FAVORITE PLAYER. Forget about stats, leagues, money, and whatever, and think about this. Your favorite player gets traded away (when he’s been doing really good) for a player who is slowing downgrading!

I really love my Yankees, but this is sucks! So good-bye Kyle, your still my favorite player, but not my favorite Yankee.

ps- The Chick is mourning … f**k off!!

Ok Ok I’m a Jets intern, but don’t look for inside info on the Jets here. I can say that ESPN.com is reporting that the Jets have received permission to talk to the great Brett Favre (as do the Tampa Bay “I Already Have 15 Million QB’s” Bucs).

Having Favre will just further confuse the entire Jets QB mess with Pennington, Clemens, and Ainge. But hey, If you can get Favre then DO IT!! The only thing is that supposedly the Cheeseheads want a 1st round pick and more in exchange, Eeehh! The Redskins didn’t have to bargain away a first rounder for Dancing Queen Taylor, so I honestly hope the Jets don’t wash away a good pick for the downgraded Favre. But what the hell do I know? I’m only an intern.

 Xavier Nady and Damaso Marte were seen giving out hugs in the Pittsburgh dugout today, and it wasn’t because they love giving hugs. Lefty dynamo Marte and outfielder (and one of my friends loves ) Nady are definitely on the move. In fact, I found out just now that Marte and Nady are headed to the Boogie Down Bronx for Ross Ohlendorf, Phil Coke (who was pulled from his Trenton start after striking the side in the first inning tonight), George Kontos and Jose Tabata.

Putting Marte in the Yankees gives them the lefty advantage that they really did need. Sure Farnsy and Edwar have been lights out of late, and of course you can always count on Mo, but the Yankees did need a lefty and now they have him! Nady is an essential bat now that Posada can’t be everyday.

 Hello all you Sports Chick Blog fans!! Now I know you’ve all be reading the blog this past week and there have been no new posts, but I had a good reason! I FINALLY took some time off and had a nice family vacation. Everyone in my family works hard in their own way, so there was a much needed vacation due! And where did we go? Disney of course!! And being the Sports Chick we stayed at the All Star Sports, If you wanna do Disney the Sports Chick way, then stay there! It was a blast!

But who the hell wants me to blog about my vacation??!! No one! So here it goes…

… About a month a go I mentioned that I will be interning with the NY Jets this summer. So two days ago set-up started (I actually missed the first day because I was still chillin’ with Mickey Mouse! ) Anyway, I’m not the most athletic human being in the world so literally every effing muscle in my body is sore! There are muscles sore that I didn’t even know existed!!

But today was the first day of Training Camp. For the Jets it’s the last TC at Hofstra University. How ’bout a little history lesson? The Jets have had TC at Hofstra since the Joe Namath days. For my family most of our summer memories come from Jet camp. Just a few stories would be like you know how all the little kids ask for those dirty gross sweatbands that the players wear? Yea, my brother asked Keyshawn Johnson for his helmet! Key hysterically laughed and gave my brother a signed glove instead, thus leading my brother to get a couple more gloves every year from TC. There are millions of other stories I have from TC at Hofstra, but I’ll keep them to myself.

So given the oppurtunity to work the LAST TC at Hofstra for my favorite NY Jets was something I couldn’t turn down. It was too storybook…

… I will be working the very last one and that’ll be my top memory of Jets TC at Hofstra.

It seems like the tearing down of Yankee Stadium and the moving of the Jets to Jersey rips away my childhood. Not the fact that I’ll be graduating from Cortland soon. It’s the memories of those places and knowing I can’t make new one after 2008.  So a new category will be added to the blog “Jets Internship.” I try to post what I can from TC, and maybe even share a few more memories!

 As if speculation wasn’t nerving enough, sources are confirming that Brett Favre not only wants to play football again in the 2008 season, but he wants OUT of Green Bay. Yes it is true … Favre hates the Cheeseheads!

The only thing that is newsworthy about this story is that fact that despite all the tears back in March, Favre still wants to play. And Green Bay clearly wants to move into the Rodgers-era. But don’t worry cheeseheads no matter where Favre goes remember this: Ronnie Lott is remembered as a 49er not a Jet, Broadway Joe is remembered as a Jet not a Ram, and Kurt Warner is remembered as a Ram and not the other 31 teams in the NFL he played for! There are also countless other players who have jumped ship over the years. The only way you Cheeseheads will truly hate Favre is if he is a Bear, Lion, or my favorite would be a Viking (**the GB v. MIN week 1 game at Lambeau was supposed to be a celebration and retirement of Favre’s 4 … Oops!!)

 I feel like this NFL off-season has been marred by the weirdest events: Tony Gonzalez saves a man’s life, Michael Vick, behind bars, filed for bankruptcy … 10-15 million dollars worth of debt!, and former-NFLer Steve Foley finally settled in his famous cop shooting. And mind you, all of these stories occured THIS week!

But what bothers me this NFL off-season is the high rate of arrests within current NFL players. This morning it was reported that Jacksonville WR, Matt Jones, was arrested on Cocaine charges AND cops actually caught him in the credit card cutting act! W.T.F. is wrong with all these players this season! As if the Chris Henry, Cedric Benson, and Adam “No Longer Pacman” Jones’ are no longer good enough for the NFL, good guys like Jones, Lofa Tatupu, and Kevin Faulk are all feeling the hand of the law! What’s even sadder is the fact that ALL of the arrests with the players mentioned above had to do with drugs, alcohol, or both.

Commissioner Goodell seems to pride himself on “cleaning up” the NFL. But the Matt Jones story made me think …

… remember when you were little and your Mom told you, “don’t touch the stove, it’s hot.” And you laid that little sucker on the red hot stove anyway because you did the opposite of what your Mom told you to do? Well I believe that the current no tolerance policy Goodell has in place is the same theory. Maybe it’s time for a little reverse pyschology Roger!

Pete Abe at the LoHud Yankees blog had this post today. Yes it is true, there is a real “Support the ‘Stache” campaign to get the Giambino into the 2008 All-Star Game. Also, the American Moustache Institute is backing his candidacy. Oh yes as amusing as it is this whole shin-dig is not a work of fiction!!

And ps-, Giambi has stated that he WILL participate in the Home Run Derby IF he is on the roster.

Basically my un-named day job is taking over my life, so here is one big, but kinda brief,  catch-up post!

• The Williams Sisters had another “who can grunt louder” match in Wimbledon on Saturday, and the modern day Wimbledon Queen, Venus, took Serena over.

• Also in Tennis, You know the swing-set playground saying, “first is the worst, second is the best, and third is the one with the hairy chest.”? Well, that proved true in the Gentlemen’s Singles Finals in Wimbledon yesterday as #2 Nadal beat #1 Federer. AND the match was the longest in history (4 hrs 48 minutes & 2 rain delays).

•  It was rivalry/Fourth of July weekend in MLB. You have Cubs-Cardinals, Dodgers-Giants, and of course Yankees-Red Sox, but the big story was the Brewers rental of C.C. Sabathia.

• The 2008 MLB All-Stars were announced:

  • Lonely A-Rod lead in overall numbers (3,934,518 votes), but his wife, Cynthia, wants no part of it!! C-ROD FILES FOR DIVORCE IN DADE COUNTY! 

  •  Jason Varitek (219 avg. 7 HR 27 RBI 19 assits) was voted in by the players and not AJ Pierzynski (299 avg 7 HR 32 RBI 29 assits) hmmmmmm Major League Diss?!?!

  • Mike Mussina (2nd in the AL with wins, 11) was cheated out of an All-Star game. But it’s OK, he rather be at the Lycoming County Fair in Hughesville, PA. Apparently the Moose loves their tractor pull!

  • THE STACHE’ & D-WRIGHT NEED YOUR VOTES … but don’t bother, the MLB will secretly find a way for Rays rookie, Evan “Don’t Call Me a Housewife” Longoria to win it!

  • 41 year old, Dara Torres, will make the US Olympic Swimming roster and Michael Phelps is a swim beast! US Sprinter, Tyson Gay, has a hamstring strain from an ugly fall, but will be OK for Beijing. Click here for ESPN’s US Olympic Trials coverage.

•  AND THE SPORTS CHICK HERSELF GOT A FOUL BALL AT HER LAST TRIP TO THE HOUSE THAT RUTH BUILT!!!!

 The NY Post and US Weekly both report that Yankees 3rd Baseman, Alex Rodriguez, is cheating on his wife AGAIN, but this time it’s with a familiar face …

… MADONNA??? Ewww, A-Rod must really have a thing for ugly blonde girls with butch arms. see here, here, and here.

However, a few sources tell me it’s complete bull. Plus, the main reason for the reports about A-Rod and Madge are that she was at the Yankees-Reds game on June 22nd with her two sons, Rocco and David, and her manager, Guy Oseary. OK stay with me, Guy Oseary is also A-Rod’s talent manager and little Rocco is a huge Yankees fan. Therefore, Madonna and her clan were only in A-Rod’s box seats because those are the seats her manger got her, phew!

Also, there was an interesting tid-bit on one of my favs, perez hilton. Perez reports that A-Rod’s wife, Cynthia, is actually the one doing the cheating …. with LENNY KRAVITZ!

So who do we believe? A-Rod, C-Rod, both, or neither?

I’ll believe neither until I hear more. PS- check out comment #67 on Perez Hilton’s C-Rod Cheating post, very very very interesting, No?

UPDATE 11:48am: Now I truly believe that both C-Rod and A-Rod are NOT CHEATING ON EACH OTHER!!!! The press always has a way of blowing up a small story. Here is a quote straight from Lenny Kravitz courtesy of PerezHilton.com:
