After Tim Tebow the next logical choice for the ‘08 Heisman is the Ohio State RB Chris “Beanie” Wells. Some even say that he WILL win over the gator great. So I don’t know about you, but the expression on Beanie’s face in the pic above doesn’t scream charlie horse cramp to me!

When collegiate football kicked off this weekend no one was slightly worried about the match-up between Ohio State v. Youngstown State. And with good reason because the Buckeyes dominated in the 43 - 0 shut out. However this was not a game without drama. Early in the 3rd quarter Beanie seemed to roll his right ankle thus stunning Buckeye Nation. X-rays were negative (seriously does anyone still go by x-rays?!?!), but Beanie did say in a statement “… I think I felt a pop.” Ohio State will release an update of the injury sometime on Monday.

Adam Pacman Jones is now allowed to play for the 2008 NFL regular season. Dallas found out the news today right before it’s final preseason game versus the Vikings. Here is the report from the AP,

“IRVING, Texas (AP) — Adam “Pacman” Jones has been cleared to play for the Dallas Cowboys this season.

The cornerback-kick returner was suspended all last season, when he was with the Tennessee Titans, because of an accumulation of arrests and legal problems. He was traded to the Cowboys in April, then allowed by commissioner Roger Goodell to join the team in training camp and in preseason games.

Goodell, however, was still waiting to decide whether to let Jones play in the regular season. That news came Thursday, hours before Dallas’ final preseason game.”

Too bad a name change won’t help much with Pacman’s past. The season will only tell if a little change of scenery to Jerry Jones’ school of Bad Asses can help Pacman really be the shut-down corner and special teams threat that Tennesse hoped he would be.

Unfortunately I left for good ol’ Cortland before I got to work the Jet-Giant preseason game. So I was not their to witness Giants DE Osi Umenyiora grip his knee in the second quarter. Apparently, Osi was carted off the field, but Giants fans had a sigh of relief when it was made public that Osi’s x-rays were negative. Well now G-Men nation can start freaking out because Osi Umenyiora is OUT FOR THE SEASON!

No details are being leaked at all. I have no info about what type of injury it is, but count on surgery being involved. Once I know more it will be posted here.

UPDATE: From ESPN.com,

“Umenyiora was hurt in the second quarter of Saturday’s preseason game against the New York Jets, but early indications were that there was no ligament damage.

However, an MRI Sunday found a torn lateral meniscus, Dr. Russell Warren told the team. The two-time Pro Bowl choice will have surgery Tuesday and be sidelined for the season.”

So it’s always cool to see the stats about my bloggy here, but one really threw me for a loop today! I had a TON of searches of “Varitek.” Being the Yankee-lover that I am I thought, “What the F*** would make me write about Tek.” Well after googling “Varitek” I decided to write about the Boston Bum…

Varitek files for divorceeeeeee!

That’s right D-I-V-O-R-C-E! It seems Tek is following in his good buddy ;) A-Rod’s steps and is moving into Splitsville. No word on the cause yet, but check out the forums of On the DL. The girls there are all buzzing about the split, and apparently the split has to do with the Boston version of Kim Jones, NESN’s Heidi Whatney, hmmmmmm…

bb_madden.jpg Geeks unite! Madden 09 is out!! Now odds are all those Madden geeks are not reading this blog b/c they’re trying to figure out every move, cheat, and code to the game, but I’ll write anyway! ;)

So by no means is my brother a geek, but he like every other football player in America has to own Madden AS SOON AS IT COMES OUT! So when he did get his hands on the game the first thing we did when we got home was push that baby into the XBox and play away.

As he was going through all the 32 NFL teams I noticed that all the Head Coaches are listed: Tony Dungy, Lane Kiffin, Eric Mangini, blah blah blahhh! But when you scroll down to that team with the NE (yes New England) it says,

“NE Coach”

Umm excuse me, but it thought that cheaters are labeled by their names??

Anyway, dig a little deeper into the “NE Coach” and you find out that Billy-Boy’s name isn’t anywhere in Madden (or anyother outside the NFL merch) because he is not part of the NFLHCA (National Football League Head Coaches Association). And Madden has the rights to display player names and coaches names because of the NFLPA and NFLHCA respectively. The only other coach not to be a part of the NFLHCA is the messiah, Bill Parcells, but that is entirely because of his contract with ESPN… So what is Mr. No Sleeves excuse?

ps- I’m obligated not to use the fella’s name b/c of the NFLHCA ;) **wink, wink**

The Chick didn’t write this, ESPN did …

… “Bullpen Blowup

The Yankees traded Kyle Farnsworth on July 31, thinking their bullpen would hold up without the right-hander. However, things have not quite gone as planned — including Aug. 1, the bullpen has allowed three-plus earned runs in four of nine games, including nine runs in Saturday’s game vs the Angels. Here’s a breakdown:

Through
July 31
Since
Aug. 1
Games 107 9
WHIP 1.24 1.78

BRING BACK MY FARNSYYYYY!!!! :(

Also, some news outlets reported that the fan total at Jet Camp yesterday was anywhere from 7,000 to 10,500, but my aching, tired, worn-out, sunburned body will atest that the actual total was 11,523. Yes the media is always right ;)

Watching the Hot List on ESPNews can be a drab. Same old s**t hour after hour with maybe an update or two in between. With all the hype about the Georgia Bulldogs taking over the SEC this year it make perfect sense that Florida QB, Tim Tebow, would be their guest today. ;)

But here’s what irked me Tim Tebow is a phenom, he’s a Sophomore that won the precious Heisman Trophy, and he’s a rushing and throwing TD-dynamo. Now ESPNews would surely ask Timmy about the Heisman (check), about UGA being the favorite (check), and umm.. yea … the 99.9% rest of the interview was about TimTebowFacts.com. So what are some Tim Tebow facts (mind you that about 20 of them were read on-air), think about all the Chuck Norris jokes you can think of and use Tim Tebow instead! Here’s a taste:

  1. The NCAA declared that Tim Tebow may lose his amateur status because he is a professional ass kicker.
  2. Tim Tebow can eat five times his body weight in tigers.
  3. Tim Tebow can divide by zero.
  4. Tim Tebow doesn’t throw up if he drinks too much. Tim Tebow throws down!
  5. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could Tim Tebow? …All of it.
  6. Contrary to popular belief, there is indeed enough Tim Tebow to go around.
  7. Tim Tebow ordered a Big Mac at Burger King, and got one.
  8. Tim Tebow once ate an entire bottle of sleeping pills. They made him blink.
  9. Tim Tebow’s hand is the only hand that beats a Royal Flush.
  10. Tim Tebow caught the road runner, then kicked Wil E. Coyote’s ass for being a bitch.

You can go to the website with the link above for more Tim Tebow madness. And oh by the way according to all the males in my life, Tim Tebow didn’t win the Heisman, he won the Golden Globes … nice fellas, real nice.

ps- still watching ESPNews and they’re talking about the Madden Curse and Favre. One bone-head suggests WORD FOR WORD “The Jets should get a college intern to tap into the Madden computers and stop the download of the Jets cover.” Thanks mister radio-f**k give us Jets interns more to do!!!!!!!!

A little while ago I wrote a post about a pipe-dream that the great Brett Favre could actually be wearing gang green. Last night as I was mid-dream I was woken up by my creaky door opening and my Dad and brother squealing, “Guess what happened?” Half dead I replied, “Brett Favre to the Jets for a third-round pick.” ;) See even in my sleep the chick can predict the future! haha

Ok so I was a round off, but it was true Brett Favre is now a New York Jet. And maybe just maybe all my 20 years of Jet fan misery will end not in heartbreak by the hands of Bill Belichick, but by the great Brett Favre holding up the Vince Lombardi trophy in Miami for the Super Bowl Champion New York JETS. See I think if I continue to blog about all my pipe dreams, then they will come true. ;)

ps- the Chick can’t wait to go to work on Saturday … being a Jets intern will never be the same!! :)
