New segment here at thesportschickblog.com. Every month I will try to post 10 Questions answered by an athlete: high school, collegiate, amateur, or pro. Whatever I can get. The segment will be Steve Serby-esque at the end, but I hope you all enjoy!

The very first 10 Questions … is with my good friend and starting Cortland Red Dragons Women’s Lax player, Casey Costello. Last Saturday Casey and the Red Dragons defeated SUNY Brockport in a stunning SUNYAC final. The Red Dragons received an automatic berth to the NCAA tournament and first round bye.

 10 Questions …

1.       What was it like being on the field for those last 20 seconds of the SUNYAC Finals?

It was very intense, exhilarating, I kept on thinking that we just need to get the draw and hold on to the ball and then we would be the champs.

2.       What is the biggest challenge facing C-State IF you play rival TCNJ?

The biggest challenge is that we just need to play as a team, when we play TCNJ we have to play an almost perfect game.  All the teams that make it to the NCAA are going to be great teams, so we have to play our best.

3.       Personally, how difficult were all your injury setbacks this season?

My shoulder injury was not really a setback because I could still play and I just needed to get use to wearing my brace, which wasn’t that hard.  My knee injury was a lot harder for me.  I felt like I was having a great season and I felt that my head was in the right spot and I was so locked down.  Coming back and playing after being out for about 2 weeks, felt like I had to learn how to play lacrosse all over again.  I felt so lost out on the field in my first couple of games back.

4.       Who is the athlete you most look up to? Why?

Mia Hamm is the athlete I most look up to because she was the first female athlete that I heard about growing up. I loved playing sports when I was younger and did not read about many female athletes.  She was amazing player, playing with so much heart, and is such a great role model.
