My hometown newspaper, Newsday, covers all the high school sports for Long Island. My high school, Hills East, is not the best team on the island, but we have some pretty good talent. One of the best players on the team is my brother, Mike Lykos.
Mikey is a Junior WR/CB on the Varsity team, and has been on Varsity since Sophomore year. This past week the Hills East T-Birds played the North Babylon Bulldogs. Now the T-Birds were not expected to win at all, but the game wound up being pretty exciting.
Mikey suffered a broken right wrist during training camp, and was supposed to be out for the season. However, x-rays were looking better and better every week. Two weeks ago he was cleared to play defense for Hills East Homecoming against Centereach, and in true Mikey fashion nothing was ordinary. In the First Quarter he had a dramatic one-handed interception, and forced the game winning fumble for the Hills East win! (more…)
Ok So during last week’s Chick Talk I went on and on about how throwback jerserys need to go away. My exception to the rule was the color powder blue, clearly the Philadelphia Eagles read this blog because this week they have yellow and blue throwbacks on for their game versus the Detroit Lions. HOWEVER, THE JERSEYS ARE MORE REPULSIVE THAN THE STEELERS’ ONES!!!!!
