Fast Food Nation

Just watched Fast Food Nation last night. It was damn good. I totally had the wrong idea about this film. I was under the impression that it was a documentary in the style of SuperSize Me but to my surprise it was not a documentary.

The movie is scripted but much of the movie comes across more like a documentary in style. The film is very interesting, giving glimpses of small town America. The characters are very well developed, relateable and real. It is loaded with a great cast of “SuperSized” Stars such as Bruce Willis, Greg Kinnear, Luis Guzman, Wilmer Valderrama (Fez from that 70s Show), Ethan Hawke, Ashley Johnson, Avril Lavigne, Kris Kristofferson and more.

The movie explores a couple themes including the meat industry and illegal immigration. As a vegetarian I was very excited about this film bringing more awareness to the practices of the meat industry. The film isn’t preachy it just exposes you, gives you a glimpses of where your food comes from and at what lengths we go to get it.

The bonus features on the DVD include a great parody of the Matrix called the MEATrix. You can check it out online: http://themeatrix.com/

I highly recommend this movie to all.
