Banned Books Week Display and Contest

Filed under: Library News, General News, Events — Amanda Hollister @ 11:51 am

Banned Books are back at SUNY Cortland!Ever wonder why anyone would not let people read The Bible?  Why would someone think Where’s Waldo is a bad book?  What is wrong with Beloved?  The Friends of the Library invite you to check out the Banned Books displays in The College Store, Corey Union, Old Main, and Memorial Library from Wednesday, September 26 through Monday, October 8 to see how familiar literature has been and continues to be censored on a regular basis.  Contest entry forms at each display will test your knowledge to see how much you know about the books on display!

Participants who complete the contest forms are eligible to win one of two $25 ASC gift cards, a Cortaca Jug sweatshirt or T-shirt, or a Banned Book tote bag filled with lots of goodies inside.  The contest is open to students, staff and faculty, limit one entry per person per display.  The drawing for the prizes will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 10 in the Memorial Library Teaching Materials Center.   One winner per display will be drawn for all correct entries received. You do not need to be present to win.

Please contact Lorraine Melita at ext. 4009 or Gretchen Douglas at ext. 4029 with any questions you may have.  This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
