Men’s Basketball Reaches Boston Quarters

The SUNY Cortland men’s basketball club made a solid run at the NCCS Regional Basketball Championships, being the overall #1 seed at the start of tournament play before losing to Hofstra in the quarterfinals. In pool play, Cortland took care of business against The College of New Jersey (51-35), Adelphi (49-33), and Assumption (42-16) to earn the top seed. In the rout of Assumption, Cortland led 22-4 at the half and held the Greyhounds to just 12 second half points en route to the victory.
With a 3-0 record and a +58 point differential, Cortland entered tournament play as the #1 seed and faced off against Hofstra. At the half, the Red Dragons were tied at 29 apiece with the Pride. In the 4th quarter, Cortland found themselves trailing by 8 before going on an 8-0 run to tie things up late in the game. In the end, Hofstra got the best of the Red Dragons, besting them by a six point margin in the tournament quarterfinals, 63-57. Dave Vistocco led the club with 26 points in the loss, while Ezra Scott and Brian Kiefer each chipped in 14 points.
