What is a NetID

Filed under: Administrative Computing, BannerWeb, New Services, myRedDragon — Josh Peluso @ August 21st, 2008

A NetID is your online identity at SUNY Cortland.  Your NetID will gain you access to most online resources at SUNY cortland.  You will need your NetID to logon to lab machines, webmail, webct and bannerweb.  Webmail, webct and bannerweb are now all accesible through one login – the myRedDragon portal  ( http://myreddragon.cortland.edu

FOR ALL STUDENTS:

Starting Auguest 20, 2008, your NetID will gain you access to bannerweb, webct and email, you will now have a single username and password to access all campus resources.

Students no longer use their C # and their username when signing on to both Webmail and their NetID. It is now their firstname.lastname  If any students are trying to log on, and they receive an error message that their password is no longer valid, they should try, for example:

Username: sherry.ellis
Password: theirusualpassword (if this doesn’t work, try using your last name and the last four digits of your C# – example: ellis9999)

*Security of your NetID is your responsibility, never share it with anyone, if you think your NetID have been compromised or if you continue to have problems logging in, please contact the technology helpcenter.

I am having trouble logging into the myRedDragon…

Filed under: Administrative Computing, myRedDragon — Josh Peluso @ July 23rd, 2008

Be sure you are using you NetID not your C# to login. (What is my NetID)

IF YOU HAVE RECENTLY CHANGED YOUR PASSWORD, PLEASE WAIT 10 MINUTES BEFORE LOGGING INTO myredDragon.

Have you logged into webmail, a lab machine or the portal before?

If you did, than your password was most likely set at that time, if you do not remember your password, and you have not set your password recovery profile, than you will need to call the helpdesk, if you have set up your password reset profile you may reset your password (http://colfax.cortland.edu/passwordprofile) and try logging again.

If you have never logged into webmail, a lab machine or the portal before?

Your password should be the default of your last name and the last four digits of your C-number.

I have tried these steps and nothing is working:

If you still cannot login, you can try and login using your old bannerweb pin with your NetID username (firstname.lastname), if you do not remember your password, you will have to call the technology help center to get your NetID password reset.

BannerWeb PIN

Filed under: Library, Technology Help Center — Josh Peluso @ September 6th, 2006

If you have forgotten your BannerWeb PIN the first thing to try is the “Forgot PIN?” button on the BannerWeb login page. Entering your User ID and click the button will prompt you with a security question that you set up the first time your got into BannerWeb. Successfully answering this will reset the PIN to your birthdate (two digits for month, two digits for day, and two digits for year). If that doesn’t work you can have your Cortland ID swiped by the Circulation Desk in the Library or the Technology Help Center in Winchell Hall and have the PIN reset to the default. There are a small number of cards that will not allow you to reset the PIN by swiping the card, in which case you will need to come in to the Technology Help Center and fill out some paperwork. If you are off-campus you can fill out this form and fax it to the Technology Help Center at (607) 753-5599.
